OVERVIEW
The ‘Open‘ refers to us welcoming people from all walks of life. In fact, through our diversity we learn best. We like to think of ourselves as an open-minded gathering of equals!
Our ‘Learning‘ is focused on personal and spiritual growth, and on family and community wellness.
This shared intention makes us a Community. We have the interests of our country and the world at heart.
In August 2022 we celebrated 10 years of intentional gatherings.
As from 1 April 2024, the OLC has a new venue: The Highbank Den, 40 Lloyd Road, Walmer, Nelson Mandela Bay.
These gatherings are all about sharing expertise on how to sustain healthy relationships. We do family and community constellations and offer workshops on topics such as:
- Stages of Faith, based on the work of James Fowler, and religious pluralism as we seek to get to know the tenants of all major religions.
- Ennea-Emotions, a workshop that combines the Enneagram Personality Profiler with Emotional Intelligence
- Family Legacies: what to keep from the generations and which patters to let go of. How to honour family bonds in current times. We look at Hellinger's 'orders of love' and use B-Nagy's Contextual Approach.
- Psychotherapy through storytelling: transposing the great stories of all time to our own lives and circumstance.
Sunday Dialogues and Meditation
These dialogues are all about examining current concerns through a more spiritual lens. Invited speakers share their perspectives on a socio-political, economic or environmental topic. Thereafter everyone is encouraged to participate in the dialogue. Its about listening and being listened to; a conversation that continues long after the event.
This is followed by a period of sitting in silent contemplation and meditation. Gatherings are ecumenical and multi-religious.
When: Last Sunday of the Month, 10 to 11.30am
Place: The Highbank Den, 40 Lloyd Road, Walmer, GQ
